Ohio teen charged after ‘pop bottle bombs’ explode

Associated Press

SPRINGFIELD, OHIO: Authorities have charged a 14-year-old western Ohio boy with aggravated arson after devices described as “pop bottle bombs” were detonated on a roadway and in a residential area.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says the New Carlisle boy was charged with a felony because of extreme danger to the public. He also was charged with unlawful possession of dangerous ordnance.

Deputies were called Tuesday afternoon on a report of a loud explosion near apartments in Bethel Township. Deputies say two devices also were detonated on a road in the township business district. No injuries were reported.

Authorities were still investigating the explosive material. Two other juveniles have been questioned.

The boy was being held in juvenile detention pending arraignment. No attorney information was available early Wednesday.
