Ohio teen held in mother’s apparent stabbing death

Associated Press

COLUMBUS: An Ohio teenager has been arrested in the apparent stabbing death of his mother at home.

Columbus police say they were called to the home on a report of a stabbing there on Wednesday. They say when they got there the 19-year-old was on the front doorsteps with a stab wound to one of his legs.

Police say 41-year-old Latonia Banner was inside the home with multiple stab wounds and was declared dead.

Her teenage son was taken to a hospital for treatment and then was taken into custody. Police say he told them he and his mother had gotten into an altercation, which escalated into the stabbing.

He has been charged with murder and has been jailed.
