YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO: A woman suspected of trying to hit another woman and two Northeast Ohio police officers with a vehicle has been sentenced to five years in prison under a plea deal.
The Vindicator newspaper in Youngstown reports 42-year-old Charlotte Moreland tearfully apologized Monday in a Mahoning County court and said she hadn’t intended to hurt anyone.
She was accused of trying to run down a woman after a fight in July 2012 and forcing the woman and two police officers to dive out of the way of her car.
Her attorney said Moreland was drunk on that morning. Moreland said she was just trying to leave.
She pleaded guilty to three felonious assault charges.
