A 20-year-old man was injured Friday afternoon after he was shot while driving on Annadale Avenue east of state Route 8 near the University of Akron campus.
The victim, who has not been identified, ran to his home nearby and was taken to City Hospital by a friend. He was in surgery Friday night.
Police were called to the 100 block of Annadale at 2:50 p.m. and found the victim’s car, a 2003 Cadillac Escalade, had hit a pole. Police do not know if the shooter was in the car or nearby.
University of Akron police notified students and faculty, telling them to stay indoors.
