Authorities say a driver and his passenger narrowly escaped serious injury when the truck they were riding in flipped over while exiting Interstate 77 and ended up on its side.
The pair was able to extricate themselves from the crumpled semi that narrowly missed crashing into the gas pumps of a Marathon gas station at the intersection of East Waterloo Road and Coventry Avenue.
Authorities had to close the road for several hours Thursday afternoon so crews could remove the truck and some fuel that leaked from its gas tanks.
