COLUMBUS: There's a hiccup in plans for a bar that would serve alcohol inside the Ohio Statehouse.
Ohio Senate President Tom Niehaus says the board that oversees the state Capitol building wants some time to explore whether the Statehouse café should sell alcoholic drinks.
Niehaus is a member of the Statehouse advisory panel. The Columbus Dispatch reports the board on Thursday formed a committee to study the issue and did not set any deadline.
A news release earlier this month announced that the café's new operators would introduce a full-service bar this summer; complete with flat screen TVs. One lawmaker has criticized the plan, saying it sends a negative message.
The Statehouse board's executive director says unlike a typical bar the café would keep alcohol out of sight.
