WORTHINGTON, OHIO: Authorities in central Ohio say a 51-year-old man died after slamming his pickup truck into the back of a malfunctioning vehicle driven by a 75-year-old woman.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says Curtis Randall Hicks of Columbus died after the Sunday evening accident on Interstate 270, roughly 10 miles north of Columbus.
Authorities say Millie Embaugh of suburban Blacklick was headed east on the highway in Sharon Township when her 2004 sport utility vehicle apparently began having mechanical problems. She was trying to maneuver the SUV to the median when the vehicle was struck by a pickup driven by Hicks.
Embaugh was taken to Riverside Hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
