An Akron man is accused of trying to eat a bag of cocaine while his 14-year-old niece was in the car with him.

When officers stopped Antonio E. Johnson, 33, at the intersection of West North and Valley streets, the Akron man attempted to swallow a plastic bag containing cocaine, according to police.

Officers struggled with Johnson and used a stun gun to subdue him, according to Beacon Journal news partner WEWS.

Johnson’s niece was in the back seat of the car. He also had a digital scale in his pocket, police said.

Johnson was charged with possession of cocaine, trafficking in cocaine, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, drug paraphernalia and child endangering.
