Beacon Journal staff report
Four people have been charged in connection with this week’s theft spree in Randolph and Atwater townships.
Portage County sheriff’s deputies have arrested Trenton Marks, 18, Alison Lowe, 18, and William Hitt, 65, all of Randolph, and Ashley Steiner, 24, of Akron, on multiple charges.
Marks is charged with burglary and possession of a controlled substance. Lowe is charged with receiving stolen property. Hitt is accused of possession of a controlled substance and trafficking food stamps. Steiner is charged with illegal weapon possession and receiving stolen property.
Deputies on Monday morning were contacted by a number of residents who reported thefts from their vehicles and out-buildings. Marks became a person of interest along with Lowe, his girlfriend, deputies said.
Further investigation led to the alleged involvement of Hitt and Steiner, deputies said.
The four were being held in the Portage County Jail.
