Two Portage County sheriff’s detectives were injured while trying to arrest a burglary suspect, authorities said.
One detective was treated at an area hospital for unspecified injuries. A second detective was injured but did not require treatment.
Sheriff David Doak said the detectives were injured while arresting Brian Cieszykowski, 30, in connection with three Winchell Road burglaries that took place last week in Mantua Township.
Also arrested on burglary charges was Angie Wyatt, 29, who lived with Cieszykowski in Cleveland.
Cieszykowski was arrested over the weekend at his mother’s home in Troy Township in Geauga County. He is being held in the Portage County Jail on charges of burglary, resisting arrest and assault of a law enforcement officer.
Wyatt is charged with complicity.
Additional charges are possible once the case is heard by a county grand jury, Doak said.
