Forecasters have put much of Ohio — including the Akron area — under flood warnings or related advisories as showers and thunderstorms continue throughout the state.

Flooding concerns have led the National Park Service to temporarily close the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected today in the Akron area.

The weather service warns winds could be gusty this evening.

Snow showers are possible overnight into Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service issued flood warnings for parts of Adams, Pike and Scioto counties in southern Ohio because of heavy rain early Friday.

In central Ohio, a piece of a two-lane road near Granville collapsed over a stream, leaving a hole that stretched almost from one side to the other as rainfall washed away the pavement.

Several northern Ohio rivers had flood warnings as forecasters reminded drivers not to proceed through water-covered roadways.
