School to close early, city issues parking ban as region braces for heavy snow

Beacon Journal staff report

Akron’s St. Vincent-St. Mary High School has notified parents and students that it will dismiss students at 1:30 p.m. today.

School officials said the forecast of snow for this afternoon has prompted them to send students home early and cancel parent-teacher conferences scheduled for today.

The City of Green has issued a parking ban beginning Tuesday evening until Thursday morning because of the pending winter storm. The ban will be in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Akron area predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow by Wednesday night.
