Second suspect charged in Akron home invasion slaying

Beacon Journal staff report

A second suspect has been charged in last week’s home invasion burglary that left one man dead and a second wounded.

Dashaun Spear, 18, is being held in the Summit County Jail on seven charges, including aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.

His bond was set at $1 million following an appearance Friday in Akron Municipal Court.

He is accused along with Travaski Tontoyei Jackson, 23, of entering an Edwards Avenue home Thursday and shooting and killing Angelo Kerney, 36.

Kerney’s half-brother was shot and injured in the attack. He is expected to survive.

Police say the suspects went to the house to rob the men.

Jackson is charged with multiple counts of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, kidnapping and felonious assault. He is also a suspect in an Oct. 6 home invasion robbery.
