Beacon Journal staff report
Police are blaming black ice for several traffic crashes that closed a section of state Route 21 near Copley Road on Friday morning.
Copley Township police report several people were hurt in multiple crashes on the northbound lanes of the highway near the Copley Road exit.
Cars spun out on bridges and overpasses, police said, and authorities called for salt trucks to respond to the area on Route 21 from Norton to Fairlawn.
Police also closed Cleveland-Massillon Road near the Copley town hall due to icy road conditions that resulted in a crash with injuries.
A crash on the Greenwich Road overpass at Route 21 in Norton closed that roadway as well.
There are no reports on the extent of the injuries to the motorists involved in any of the crashes.
