Sheriff’s deputy in Ohio crash flown to hospital

Associated Press

JERRY CITY, OHIO: A Northwest Ohio sheriff says a deputy was flown to a hospital after a traffic crash that injured a driver in another vehicle.

The State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred Wednesday evening when the deputy didn’t yield the right of way at an intersection in the village of Jersey City, south of Toledo. His patrol car was struck by a sport utility vehicle.

Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said the deputy’s injuries weren’t believed to be life-threatening.

Troopers say the 18-year-old Defiance woman driving the SUV was treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

The highway patrol says the crash remains under investigation.
