Snow adds to hazards on already icy Ohio roads

CINCINNATI: Parts of southwest and central Ohio are seeing snow as more wintry weather hits areas that earlier got a mix of rain and sleet.

Snow began falling Friday afternoon in Cincinnati, which issued a Level 1 snow emergency indicating hazardous roads with blowing and drifting snow. It also restricts street parking along designated snow emergency routes.

The National Weather Service said some areas of central and southwest Ohio might get 5 to 9 inches of snow before the end of snowfall late Friday. It was accumulating on streets and sidewalks in downtown Cincinnati and clinging to trees in Columbus by mid-afternoon.

Cincinnati said road crews were working to make the evening commute as smooth as possible.
