It was the tale of two seasons.

Friday morning was more winter-like as a line of moderate snow made its way through the Akron area just after the morning rush.

The snow quickly covered area streets and highways, sending vehicles spinning.

Numerous crashes clogged highways, with police officers struggling to keep up.

At one point, three sections of area interstates were closed as the result of crashes: two sections of westbound Interstate 76, with a series of crashes near Barber Road and at state Route 57; and the southbound lanes on Interstate 71 in Medina County at state Route 18.

Norton police reported that 23 cars were involved in accidents along either side of I-76. No serious injuries were reported.

The snow was short-lived as temperatures rose to around 50 degrees — a bit more spring-like.

Temperatures will take a dive today into the 40s with partly sunny skies.

A fresh shot of Arctic air is expected to keep temperatures below freezing Sunday and Monday.
