DAYTON, OHIO: A former southwest Ohio high school teacher has permanently given up his teaching license and will be on probation for five years after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual battery against a student.
Michael Weaver, 43, also must register as a sex offender and perform 125 hours of community service. Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Mary Katherine Huffman also Thursday ordered him to have no contact with the victim. A third sexual battery count was dropped in a plea agreement with prosecutors.
The Dayton Daily News reports that the former Centerville High School student says Weaver manipulated her emotionally and took advantage of her.
Weaver apologized, said his behavior was wrong and that he takes responsibility. The former girls golf coach is married with two children.
