Portage County Sheriff’s deputies spent Monday trying to determine the extent of a theft spree that hit Randolph and Atwater townships early Monday.

Sheriff David W. Doak said his office is “investigating numerous reports” of thefts residents discovered as they awoke Monday.

Lt. Gregory Johnson said an exact number of victims and streets affected has not been determined.

The crime spree includes thefts of three vehicles, thefts from vehicles and break-ins of garages and out-buildings, deputies said. Each vehicle has been recovered.

The sheriff’s office said deputies are pursuing “several leads” on potential suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 330-296-5100 ext. 0.
