Stranger approached Bath student

Beacon Journal staff report

A Bath Township girl told police that a strange man walked out of a wooded area while she was waiting for a school bus early Thursday morning.

Officers followed footprints near the 2700 block of Walnut Ridge Road, but were ultimately unable to locate the suspect.

The girl was not harmed.

She told police she was waiting at a school bus stop at 7 a.m. when the man emerged from a patch of trees and started walking toward her. The man ran off when the bus arrived.

Police say they tracked footprints from the Walnut Ridge neighborhood to the Oak Knoll neighborhood where the prints disappeared.

Police said they would increase patrols as a result of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 330-666-3736.
