Excessive speed and icy roads are being blamed for a crash that killed a driver Monday morning in Tallmadge.
The driver of the Chevrolet Astro has not been identified.
The crash took place just after 9 a.m. Monday, when the minivan was travelling south in the 1200 block of Southeast Avenue. The driver lost control near the Summit Racing Equipment parking lot.
Police said the vehicle went off the road and struck a utility pole, tree and several parked cars. The driver was ejected and was declared dead at the scene.
Police said speed, reckless driving and icy road conditions were all factors in the crash.
Tallmadge police and the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating.
