YOUNGSTOWN: University of Akron administrator Jim Tressel will begin his job as president of Youngstown State on Friday — 10 days ahead of schedule.
Tressel will serve as interim president until he officially becomes president on July 1 because the current interim president, Ikram Khawaja, is going on vacation and then will retire.
Tressel, executive vice president of student success at UA, will officially leave his Akron job today.
He already has moved into the YSU-owned Pollock House adjacent to the Youngstown campus.
Tressel will be paid for the extra days that he works as YSU president, on a pro rated basis. His base is $300,000.
