CANTON: Two men were arrested Wednesday after the city’s special investigations unit and SWAT team executed separate search warrants at two locations.
David A. Pritchard, 26, was arrested in the 1300 block of 13th Street Northwest after authorities said they found crack cocaine, marijuana and a loaded semiautomatic pistol after receiving a citizen complaint. Police said they also recovered a digital scale, plastic baggies, cash and several boxes of ammunition at the residence.
Pritchard was charged with cocaine trafficking, possession of marijuana and having weapons under disability.
Frederick Mitchell Jr., 26, was arrested in the 1400 block of Ninth Street Northeast after a long-term investigation was conducted following multiple neighborhood complaints.
Authorities said that while the house was empty at the time of the search, evidence was recovered confirming that a drug-trafficking operation had been disrupted.
Items recovered at the scene included cooking utensils, a razor blade and a ceramic plate covered in white residue. Plastic baggies normally used to package drugs for sale, live ammunition for handguns and a 12-gauge shotgun were recovered.
A stolen 2011 Dodge Journey sport utility vehicle parked nearby was recovered.
Mitchell was charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana and domestic violence.
The drug trafficking charges were enhanced because juveniles are frequently present at the residence, authorities said.
Both investigations will continue and further arrests may result, authorities said.
