Akron police are seeking two females who maced a manager at the Dick’s Sporting Goods on Sunday night as they fled with a bag filled with stolen jackets.
The unidentified women came into the store off Howe Avenue, stuffed about 15 The North Face jackets into a bag and attempted to leave without paying, according to an Akron police detective.
When the store manager approached the women, they sprayed him in the eyes with mace, the detective said.
No other employees or customers were injured.
The females left the store about 7 p.m. and had not been apprehended as of later Sunday evening.
An employee referred all questions about the incident to Dick’s Sporting Goods’ corporate headquarters in Pennsylvania, which was closed Sunday night.
An estimated value for the stolen jackets was not available Sunday evening from police.
The popular The North Face jackets retail for about $100 to $300 or more, according to Dick’s Sporting Goods’ website.
