Beacon Journal staff report
Two Cleveland-area men have been indicted in connection with the August armed robbery of a woman as she left a Montville Township grocery store.
Kevin Lamont Tate Jr., of Parma, and Willie McCoy, 19, of Cleveland, are accused of aggravated robbery. Tate has been arrested; McCoy is wanted by Montville police.
According to police, McCoy is seen in an Aug. 24 surveillance video of the Buehler’s parking lot on state Route 18 walking through the aisles. He later confronts the woman at gunpoint in the parking lot and demands her purse. Police believe McCoy then ran to Tate, who was parked in a car near the store’s entrance.
The two are also believed to have committed subsequent robberies in Lyndhurst and Cleveland Heights, police said.
Montville police posted the grocery store video on Facebook and it was viewed more than 85,000 times. News coverage generated leads identifying Tate and McCoy as suspects, police said.
Anyone with information about McCoy’s whereabouts or other potential crimes may contact Montville police at 330-725-8314.
