Two students accused of breaking inside Buchtel High football lockers

Beacon Journal staff report

Two students used a hammer to break inside several lockers used by Buchtel High School football players, Akron police say.

The boys, ages 14 and 15, are accused of stealing cash, hats and cell phones during the break-ins during an after-school football practice Sept. 15.

One of the suspects attends the high school; the other attends Firestone High School, according to a police report.

A brother of one suspect returned the stolen cell phones the following day, police said.

The cash, totaling about $217, and two hats, each worth about $30, were not recovered when the boys were arrested on juvenile charges of breaking and entering and criminal trespassing.

The criminal charges were referred to prosecutors and the Summit County Juvenile Court.
