The Akron Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of a man that occurred about 10:15 p.m. Monday outside an East Avenue home, police Lt. Rick Edwards said.
The victim, Deshawn Dwayne Smith 18, of Akron, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:42 p.m. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso, Edwards said.
An Akron woman, 21, also was injured during the shooting. She suffered a bullet wound to her shoulder. She is being treated at an area hospital and is expected to survive, Edwards said.
No suspects have been identified.
The victims were found in a car in the 600 block of East Avenue. Police say the shooter approached the victims’ 1993 Cadillac Seville while it was parked in a driveway and opened fire.
Edwards said detectives are questioning several witnesses.
