A prisoner was found hanging by his shirt in the Wayne County Jail early Sunday morning.
Wayne County Sheriff Travis Hutchison said Jerry Lee Wile, 53, of Shreve, was discovered by another inmate in a jail restroom about 3:50 a.m.
The inmate and a deputy were able to get Wile to the floor and the deputy performed CPR.
Wooster city fire paramedics responded and provided additional assistance, but Wile could not be revived.
Wayne County Coroner Amy Jolliff is investigating the cause of death.
Wile was incarcerated for operating a vehicle under the influence and began serving time on Sept. 27. He was to be released March 27.
“The investigation into this death continues and all inmates who had contact with Mr. Wile have been interviewed,” Hutchinson said in a statement.
