Farm operator arrested in Brimfield horse deaths

By Beacon Journal staff report

Brimfield Township police have made an arrest in the death of six horses found at a boarding facility on Old Forge Road.

Diane Silbaugh, 55, has been charged with nine second-degree misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty stemming from Wednesday's discovery of emaciated horses at the farm.

Silbaugh is listed as the operator of the Never Rest Ranch at 344 Old Forge Road, where horses are boarded.

The Portage Animal Protective League and the Happy Trails and Rescue Village are working to save another dozen horses found at the farm.

The APL is accepting donations to offset the cost of medical treatment. Donations can be mailed to Portage APL, 8122 Infirmary Road, Ravenna, OH 44266. Checks should be made out to Horse Fund.
