State Sen. Kevin Coughlin, who is leading an attempt to oust Summit County Republican Chairman Alex Arshinkoff, will hold a ''Lincoln Day Rally for Change'' at 6 p.m. Monday.
The event will be at the Masonic Lodge, 1589 Akron Peninsula Road, next to Papa Joe's in Merriman Valley. The program is expected to last until 7:30 p.m.
The event is open to the public and free, though donations will be accepted. It will include the chance to meet Republican candidates and hear about Coughlin's plans to change the party. Food and beverages will be served and there will be a drawing for Ohio State University football tickets.
Those attending are asked to RSVP by calling 330-940-3260 or emailing newsummitrepublicans@gmailcom.
Coughlin is trying to unseat Arshinkoff by gaining a majority on the county party's central committee in the March 4 primary. This committee must meet 60 days after the election to decide the party's leadership.
