Schuring, Boccieri will vie to fill Regula's seat

State Sen. Kirk Schuring of Jackson Township will face state Sen. John Boccieri of New Middleton in Mahoning County in the race for the 16th Congressional seat this November.

A Beacon Journal story in today's paper incorrectly said that Ashland County Commissioner Matt Miller had won Tuesday's Republican primary and would vie to replace U.S. Rep. Ralph Regula, R-Navarre.

The district covers Stark and Wayne counties and parts of Medina and Ashland counties.

Schuring won big in Stark County, while Miller won Wayne, Medina and Ashland counties.

The unofficial vote tally for Stark showed that Schuring received 24,721 votes while Miller had 10,704.
