UPDATE: Storm cancels, delays flights

By Beacon Journal staff report

The foul weather has led to delays and cancellations at area airports.

At Cleveland Hopkins, Continental has canceled 20 percent of its mainline flights and 60 percent of its affiliate flights -- those operated with regional jets and turbo-prop planes -- for this evening.

Fifty percent of the affiliate flights have been canceled for tomorrow, said airport spokesman Todd Haynes.

The bad weather has led to air traffic controllers reducing the number of departing and arriving flights and this is leading to at Cleveland Hopkins and other airports, including the Akron Canton Airport.

Akron Canton Airport spokeswoman Kristie Van Auken said those needing flight information should check the airport's Web site at http://www.akroncantonairport.com or visit individual airlines' Web sites before leaving for the airport.
