Spelling bee to air Saturday, Sunday

The Akron Beacon Journal Regional Spelling Bee, which took place March 15, will be shown at 8 p.m. Saturday on Time Warner Cable channel 23.

Gillian Butdorf, who attends Edgewood Middle School in Wooster, was crowned 2008 district champion at the regional bee, which as at the Akron-Summit County Public Library.

Gillian will travel to Washington, D.C., in late May to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Following the airing at 8 p.m Saturday, the show will air four additional times on Time Warner Cable channel 23:

-- 10 a.m. Sunday

-- 8 p.m. April 12

-- 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. April 13
