After 30 years, stolen Civil War memorabilia returned

MANSFIELD, Ohio: Authorities in Mansfield say after 30 years, they have recovered stolen Civil War artifacts that belonged to an ancestor of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown.

The items include a coat and sword that belonged to Brown's great-grandfather. They had been stolen from the Richland County Museum.

Sheriff's deputies got a tip and tracked the items from the central Ohio city of Delaware to Tennessee, Michigan, back to Tennessee and finally to San Antonio, where a man was offering them for sale on eBay.

Bidding had reached $9,000 when the auction was shut down and the items were returned. They'll be presented to Senator Brown and other family members on Saturday.
