Kent State assistant Geno Ford is expected to take over the men's basketball program, replacing Jim Christian, who resigned last week.
A person with knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press that Ford is expected to be introduced Wednesday. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because Ford's contract has not been finalized.
Ford, who starred as a player at Ohio, will inherit a program that won at least 20 games each of the past 10 seasons. The Golden Flashes won the Mid-American Conference regular-season East title and tournament this past season, earning their fifth NCAA tournament berth in 10 years.
Christian resigned after six seasons to take over at TCU.
