The 35-year-old man who was arrested last Tuesday afternoon after an explosion in the backyard of his residence rocked his Macedonia neighborhood will be rearraigned on additional charges Tuesday afternoon in Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court.
Jason Peltz, who police said had been making homemade fireworks for a long time, was charged with illegally manufacturing or processing explosives and bond was set at $250,000 last Wednesday. Peltz pleaded not guilty.
Peltz currently is in the Macedonia Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned via video hook up at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said further investigation into the case led to more charges. They declined to elaborate on the charges.
Police said that about 30 pounds of flash powder and other explosive compounds were removed from the house on Harper Lane by explosives experts brought in after the explosion.
Peltz's preliminary hearing in Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday before Judge Lisa Coates.
