The Falls City Council tonight approved the appointment of Paul Moledor as fire chief.
Moledor, a 24-year member of the fire department, was appointed acting chief by Mayor Don Robart on April 3.
Former Chief Mark Snyder was on medical leave from April 3 until his retirement was effective Friday.
Moledor is a lifelong resident of Cuyahoga Falls. During his time as assistant chief, he worked with the city administration on projects including the new dispatch center and the Rain Garden Reserve.
Robart called Moledor the ''go-to guy'' for the city's emergency preparedness program.
He said Moledor does a great job organizing the city's semiannual mock emergency drills, which prepares city officials and first responders.
The department is authorized 87 sworn members, 78 of whom are working 24-hour shifts out of four stations, providing full-service fire protection/prevention, emergency medical and rescue, according to the city's Web site.
