Macedonia man faces more charges in explosion

By Bill Lilley
Beacon Journal staff writer

Macedonia Police filed three additional charges, including aggravated arson, against the 35-year-old Macedonia man who was involved in an explosion last Tuesday while making homemade fireworks in the backyard of his residence.

Jason Peltz was charged with two drug possession charges, one a fourth degree felony and one second degree misdemeanor, during his arraignment via video hookup this afternoon before Judge Lisa Coates in the Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court.

The aggravated arson charge is a first degree felony.

Peltz, who is in Macedonia Jail, pleaded not guilty to the three charges.

At his initial arraignment Wednesday, he pleaded not guilty to illegal manufacture or possession of explosives.

Peltz is scheduled to appear before Coates at a preliminary hearing at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
