The NBA today suspended Washington Wizards forward Darius Songaila for striking Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James in the face with his hand.
The suspension was announced by Stu Jackson, NBA executive vice president of basketball operations.
The suspension is for one game without pay.
The incident occurred with 3:20 remaining in the first quarter of the Wizards' 88-87 win in Cleveland in Game 5 on Wednesday. Songaila will serve the suspension tonight when the Wizards host the Cavaliers at 7 p.m.
The Cavs lead the Eastern Conference first-round series 3-2.
Game 7, if necessary, would be 1 p.m. Sunday at Quicken Loans Arena.
