Saks Saleswoman Accused of Stealing $1 Million

Work on a $13.6 million highway project in northern Summit County is set to begin the week of May 12.
The project includes replacing and widening a railroad bridge on East Aurora Road (state Route 82) between Valley View Road and Interstate 271 in Macedonia.
Mayor Don Kuchta said he fears the project will become the ''most disruptive'' ever in Macedonia.
The work will be done by Akron's Kenmore Construction Co. and is scheduled for completion in June 2010, said Justin Chesnic, a spokesman for the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The construction contract with Kenmore is for $8.8 million, he said.
The initial work will involve laying sewer lines along East Aurora Road and building embankment walls for the new bridge, Chesnic said. The main bridge is expected to be complete by the fall.
Widening Route 82 to five lanes from South Bedford Road to east of Crow Drive will be done later, he said.
At present, Route 82 narrows to one lane in each direction under the bridge, creating a major traffic bottleneck.
The plan calls for maintaining one lane of traffic in each direction on state Route 82 during the construction, Chesnic said.
Some side streets, including Valley View Road, North Bedford Road, Park Avenue and Crow Drive, will be closed to traffic during the project.
The city of Macedonia will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the project at 2:30 p.m. May 28 at Memorial Park. U.S. Rep. Steven LaTourette, R-Bainbridge Township, who helped arrange a federal grant of $2.7 million for the work, is expected to attend.
In a Web posting, Kuchta suggested that Macedonia residents might want to seek alternate routes to avoid the construction area.
Macedonia won't stage community festivals or fireworks at Memorial Park until the worst of the state Route 82 construction is finished, he said.
