CINCINNATI What started out as a water training exercise for Cincinnati firefighters turned into a real rescue when a woman jumped into the Ohio River.
A passerby told firefighters at a routine training session Saturday that someone was about to jump from a bridge that connects downtown Cincinnati with its northern Kentucky suburbs.
Firefighters found a woman in the water, too weak to grab a buoy that was tossed to her. So they put a flotation device under the woman and pulled her to the boat, then took her to a hospital.
The woman's name has not been released. A fire department spokesman says she appeared to be unharmed but very tired.
