Seven hurt in Jeep crash

Seven people were injured when the Jeep Cherokee they were in rolled down an embankment and landed on its side early this morning near the Innerbelt in Akron.

The names of the seven injured were not immediately available.

It took four Akron Fire rescue vehicles and three private ambulances to transport the injured to two local hospitals.

Fire Capt. Charles Twigg was among the rescue workers on hand. It appears the Jeep with five men and two women inside drove down Rand Street and down an embankment leading to the state Route 59 Innerbelt. The crash occurred at about 2 a.m. The vehicle landed on its side short of the freeway.
