Motorcyclist, passenger seriously injured in Medina accident

By Beacon Journal staff writer

A motorcyclist and his passenger were seriously injured when they were rear-ended while stopped at a traffic light on state Route 18 in Medina County this morning.

Brad Burbick, 34, of Leetonia, and his female passenger were stopped at the light at Windfall Road in Granger Township when they were hit from behind by an Chevrolet SUV driven by Roger Runion, 54, of Medina.

Runion was to be cited for assured clear distance, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper.

Burbick and his passenger, who were riding a Harley-Davidson, were taken to Medina Community Hospital and then transported by LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

They were conscious when emergency personnel arrived. They were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
