The Summit County Sheriff's Office is asking for help in locating eight convicted sex offenders who haven't been reporting their whereabouts to authorities and are missing.
The offenders — all men — are considered fugitives and have active warrants out for their arrest.
The Sheriff's Office has created a poster with the names, descriptions and photos of the men. They are:
• John Fox, 29, whose last known address was on East Glenwood Avenue in Akron. He was convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
• Dwayne E. Pearson, 37, who last lived on Floyd Street in Akron. He was convicted of unlawful imprisonment.
• Gerald Owens, 43, who last lived on Morse Street in Akron. He was convicted of aggravated sodomy and rape.
• Joseph Rivers, 47, who last lived on East Avenue in Akron. He was convicted of attempted gross sexual imposition.
• Innocent Okolo, 45, who last lived on Rowles Drive in Akron. He was convicted of sexual imposition.
• Mel Vanmeter, 42, who is homeless and reported his address as Waterloo Road and South Main Street. He was convicted of attempted rape.
• Cory Little, 19, who last lived on Raasch Avenue in Akron. He was convicted of sexual imposition.
• Marcus A. Brooks, 23, who last lived on Johnland Avenue in Akron. He was convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
You can view the sheriff's document with details and pictures here.
Deputies advised people not to attempt to apprehend them. People who know their whereabouts can call Summit County Crimestoppers anonymously at 330-434-2677 or the sheriff's detective bureau at 330-643-8635, 330-643-5404 or 330-643-2501.
