Stow man charged with molesting 11-year-old boy

By Beacon Journal staff report

Stow police say a 70-year-old man charged with gross sexual imposition involving an 11-year-old boy is also accused of molesting several boys in Florida over a 30-year period.

Stow police on Tuesday arrested Glen A. VanKleeck on two counts of gross sexual imposition in the molestation of an 11-year-old boy in February. VanKleeck, who lives in the 1400 block of Mac Drive, knew the victim, police said.

VanKleeck is in the Summit County Jail in lieu of 10 percent of a $250,000 bond.

Stow police said their investigation turned up the allegations in Florida. They were not reported at the time the offenses allegedly occurred and VanKleeck has not been charged.

''Those events just came to light [for authorities] recently,'' Stow police Lt. Rick Myers said.

Warrants were filed by Stow police and VanKleeck was apprehended by the U.S. Marshal Northeast Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.

He is to appear in Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court for a preliminary hearing July 24.
