COLUMBUS: Ohio State has landed a 7-foot transfer, center Zisis Sarikopoulos (ZIHZ'-ihs SAR'-uh-kohp-uh-lihs) of Athens, Greece, who played for the University of Alabama-Birmingham last season.
His transfer was announced Thursday by Ohio State coach Thad Matta.
Sarikopoulos must sit out the upcoming season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules and will have three seasons of eligibility left.
Sarikopoulos played in 20 games at UAB, averaging 1.8 points and 1.1 rebounds a game.
Ohio State center Kosta Koufos left after one season and was drafted in June by the NBA Utah Jazz.
