Forms for the mail-in lottery to get tickets for The Polar Express in Canton are now available through the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.
Forms for the holiday trains that run between Akron and Independence will not be available until Aug. 1.
The Peninsula-based railroad decided to get a jump start on the expanded Canton trips, spokeswoman Kelly Steele said.
Forms for the mail-in lottery are available at http://www.cvsr.com and http://www.my1017.com.
They are also available at:
• The railroad's Canton Lincoln Highway Station, 1315 Tuscarawas St. W.
• The Stark County Park District's Exploration Gateway, 5712 12th St. N.W., Perry Township.
• The Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, 222 Market Ave. S.
• Canton City Hall, 218 Cleveland Ave. S.W.
• Canton Memorial Civic Center, 1101 Market Ave. N.
• Arts in Stark, 900 Cleveland Ave. S.W.
The forms are also available from the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority, Canton-area Wal-Mart stores and branches of the Stark County Public Library.
Completed forms for the Canton trips must be postmarked by Aug. 22.
The Canton trips are being offered at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 28 through Dec. 20. Tickets are $30 (for ages 1 and up).
Up to eight tickets can be ordered. There is a limit of one order per family and one form per envelope.
Please enclose a check or money order or credit card information to get tickets.
Last year the railroad offered The Polar Express trips in Canton for the first time on a limited basis.
The Polar Express is based on Chris Van Allsburg's story about a young boy who takes a special train ride to the North Pole on Christmas Eve.
The deadline for the lottery for the Akron and Independence tickets is Sept. 15.
The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is offering a special deal to anyone who signs up as a $100 railroad member.
Anyone who signs up to be a ''Brakeman'' by Aug. 15, will be guaranteed the chance to buy up to eight tickets to The Polar Express for $240 without worrying about the lottery.
For more information, call 800-468-4070 or check out http://www.cvsr.com.
