Gov. Ted Strickland will hold an education form in Akron this evening.
The forum is part of a series Strickland is hosting across the state to get feedback on what's needed to improve Ohio's education system. The first was in Columbus Tuesday.
The Akron forum will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at North High School, 985 Gorge Blvd.
The sessions will be open to educators, business leaders, parents and students.
The events will focus on the principles outlined in the governor's State of the State address, as well as other ideas for creating a system that is ''innovative, personalized and linked to economic prosperity,'' according to a news release from Strickland's office.
Strickland will hold a second round of forums this fall that will focus on how to pay for these changes. The governor plans to introduce his education proposal next year.
Strickland has started a Web site, www.ConversationOnEducation.Org, which will provide details about the forums and offer the chance to submit feedback. Most forums will air live on local PBS stations.
