By Beacon Journal staff

Medway agents and police swept through southeastern Wooster Friday night in a drug bust.

Nineteen people were arrested by 8:15 p.m. and more arrests are expected.

Arrested were: DeMarco D. Jackson, 24, of Wooster, aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine; Carlos D. Smith, 34, of Wooster, trafficking in crack cocaine; Anthony W. Rackley, 53, of Wooster, trafficking in crack cocaine; David M. Kirby, 33, of Wooster, trafficking in pharmaceuticals; Kristopher J. Baker, 20, of Wooster, trafficking in marijuana; Sandra J. Gaffney, 42, of Wooster, trafficking in pharmaceuticals; Michael Hall, 48, of Wooster, trafficking in crack cocaine; Jerry L. Parks, 52, of Wooster, trafficking in pharmaceuticals; Dalisa Merriweather, 20, of Orrville, trafficking in crack cocaine; Paul Cecil, 45, of East Union Township, trafficking in cocaine and crack cocaine; Myrtle Hill, 39, of Wooster, trafficking in crack cocaine; Oscar Lewis III, 41, of Wooster, trafficking in cocaine and marijuana; Lance Almond, 24, of Wooster, trafficking in crack cocaine; Annie M. Medway director Dave Smith said trafficking in crack cocaine was up 382 percent and powder cocaine was up 283 percent based on the number of buys made by agents this year.

The roundup of drug suspects ''will send a message,'' he said, ''but it will come back.''

Maurer said 85 officers from Wayne, Medina and Holmes counties took part in the bust.
