Akron market employee takes would-be robber's gun

By Beacon Journal staff

An employee at an Akron market wrestled a handgun away from a would-be robber last week before the man was able to get any money.

Akron police said an employee of Rocky's Market, 1281 5th Ave., said the man entered the store demanding money shortly after noon on Thursday. After a brief struggle, the employee took the gun away from the man before he fled the store, police said.

Police are looking for a light-complexioned black male between the ages of 18 and 22. He is about 5 feet tall and weighs about 160 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 330-375-2490.
